This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 03, 2009:
Well actually it is an ongoing process...I am trying to learn how to cook healthier for myself and my family. We all love to eat, and I love to cook...unfortunately I learned to cook from my grandma who was from the south so it is a lot of high calorie and fat foods, and from my boyfriends mom who is mexican, so not too much healthy stuff there either. But cooking is something that I enjoy, so it has been a lot of fun experimenting with different recipes and techniques. If anybody has any ideas, I would love to hear them.....

Help

Oh Miranda~ We are all in the same boat with trying to cook healthier! I have also learned to cook homemade with all the bad stuff but tastes so good! I married very young to a mexican man and can cook as good if not better. I didn’t want to give up some of that food but found out that I can subitute some of the bad stuff with better stuff. In stead of using lard I replace it with olive oil. Instead of using flour, I use spelt or oat. Tastes Great! Have fun! Change slow, I put my family in shock when I went from fat filled food to Veggies! Not happy.
